We live on 18 acres in beautiful Tregeagle which is a great base for exploring Northern NSW. We are rehabilitating the native forest for koala habitat, generally regenerating the land, and developing education centre and accommodation. It is not a commercial farm but we do have a large vegetable and herb garden, a substantial fruit orchard and chickens.
We have power and water, a level area for your van or mobile home, access to the bathroom if needed, and mostly peace and quiet (there are macadamia farms nearby and of course birds and koalas and our own not too early rooster, Digby).
It is a stunning place to call home even if only for a short while.
In exchange, we would like the equivalent of 1 hour a day per person for a couple and 1.5 hours for a single person. Couples can divide the work as they prefer. This is negotiable and could be spread daily or consolidated into a half or full day per week. This would allow flexibility for you to sight-see, travel and use our place as a base.
Smoking on site is not acceptable. We minimise the use of chemicals for cleaning or land-care and will provide suitable dishwashing products etc if you don’t already have them.
A pet or 2 may be OK depending on us meeting them and their appropriate behaviour around wildlife.
You don’t need to know much about gardening, forest regeneration or permaculture but you need to be ok with getting your hands dirty sometimes. Work may also include general gardening or light cleaning. If you think you are the right person/ people and need a place you can call home for a week, or a month or longer get in contact with us.
Ideally, you can visit before you decide but this is not essential unless you have a pet coming with you.
Start date is from Friday, Feb 15, indefinitely.
We look forward to hearing from you.
Best wishes, Karen and Bruce
